Alright so over the last few weeks I have been doing some research and gathering up information so that I have something to write. Part of that research has been experimenting with D.I.Y. Flavors. So I guess this will be a written review of my experience. Hopefully in the very near future I will have the capability to do some videos.
So what I did was order a group of flavors from The Perfumers Apprentice (TPA). My room mate bought some 100mg/ml nic juice in PG from xtreme vapor and I bought medical grade PG from Walgreen's pharmacy and food grade VG from Sprouts (Sprouts is a local health food supermarket here in Phoenix, AZ). The Flavors I ordered were Tobacco, Blueberry Extra, Peach, Strawberry, DK Tobacco, Green Tea, Green Apple, Honey, and Clove.
To start I want to say that the customer service at TPA is perfection. The menthol crystal bag had exploded in the package and got menthol everywhere. I sent Linda an email and she immediately over nighted me more along with an additional Granny Smith apple sample. She was very sweet and a delight to do business with.
That being said lets get on with the reviews. All of the flavors smell great but not all of them tasted as they smelled. I assume this is due to them being made with perfume chemicals. I tried all the flavors by themselves first and for the most part they were very decent. The Strawberry was really tasty especially mentholated. It has that grassy fruit taste like real strawberries not the over sweet candy flavor. The peach is very delicious and great with or without menthol.
The Green Tea flavor is sweet and earthy like real green tea. It is light and refreshing even at high nic. The best, however, was when I mixed in a few drops of the honey. It really brought out the earthiness of the tea and gave it the perfect amount of sweet to emulate a summer iced tea. Be warned though, even though this flavor combo tastes amazing the vapor smells like holy hell. Somewhere between wet dog and wet carpet. As far as I can tell it is the Honey flavor that causes this. Definitely not one to be stealth vaped.
The Clove flavor was spot on. It isn't as complex as Kretek or Essence Clove (essence...essence...essence) but it is delish none the less. It has that rugged herbal flavor with the mouth numbing sensation typical of a clove cigarette.
Now I am a tobacco fan and I am in love with AVE's 555 and Marley(now C&D) flavor. I ordered the DK tobacco to get that fix cause she describes it as close to 555. I also bought the plain tobacco flavor to mentholate. The DK was really good. It was simple and sweet with a mild nutty undertone. Add a little honey flavor and it emulated an RY4 or Flu cured. The plain tobacco flavor, however, was god awful. I'm not sure why but it tasted like some kind of incense. It was definitely apparent that it was made with perfume chemicals.
The green apple is ok and pretty delicious with menthol (I believe this is what Vaporcast uses in their Adam's Apple flavor.) On its own though it tends to have that incense after taste.
The Granny Smith Apple that Linda sent me after the menthol fiasco, sad to say, is by far the worst thing I have ever tasted. It smells like apples but has absolutely zero apple taste. I'm not sure if I got a bad one or what but it tasted strictly of frankincense and Myrrh. (two common herbs used in almost all perfumes.)
Finally, the blueberry extra. This smells great but for some reason my batch was seriously lacking in flavor. It is advertised as being very strong but it was not even close. I mixed it at 20%, 25%, and 30% and all I could get was the faint taste of blueberry. I'm going to order this again and see if it is different. I have heard from others that it is really good so....
Well there you have it. My initial experience with TPA is overall great. There were some bad flavors but you can't win 'em all.
Until next time, keep on vaping!!
This blog site is an information source on all things electronic cigarette. I will be posting here as often as possible as well inviting others to post. Over time I will be adding links to other blogs and sites with pertinent information.

West Coast Vaping...Fuck Yeah! (homage to you grimm)
So this is the kick off post for the West Coast Vapers Coalition blog. I don't know what is to come of this but I'm hoping that we all can use this to further expand our community. There is a lot of vapers from the east coast that are very active and I just felt that the best coast needs some representation. (Not that you all don't represent!) Don't get me wrong though, I love all my fellow vapers and you are all welcome on this site. Hopefully this can be an additional tool for news, meet-up plans, videos, and just the general shenanigans that make this community so much fun!
I want this to be an open blog so if you have something you want to put up for the community then feel free to email it to me and I will post it. I will try to post daily and should have some videos up by the end of the week.
Thanks for checking out my site and I hope you enjoy. Join the coalition and follow!
